How can I change the front page to be just one article?
Joomla's FrontPage is by default actually a blog-view. The Front Page Manager controls what stories are shown in this view. Many would rather prefer one welcome story on the front page. This can easily be achieved by creating this story as a static or dynamic page. Then you delete the default Home page and create a new Home menu item that is a link to this page. Now move the Home menu item first in the menu list. The first item autamatically becomes the front page.
